Love this place! Top of the world in Rapid City, SD! Great service, great food, great views!

This is a beautiful view of downtown Rapid City. The drinks were great on New Year's Eve, but the service was a little lack luster. We sat at a table for 15 minutes and no server showed up. My husband ended up going to the bar and the bartender on the hand, was excellent.

Kyle is the best! Vertex is so lovely get walleye fingers!

$20 dollars for a day pass. View was awesome... That's about it. Missing about half of their menu that was online. Place is outdated and dirty. Trim falling off the wall, bugs in all the light fixtures tables where dirty, upstairs was loud and lights constantly flickered. Food was eh at best. Waited over 45 minutes for dessert and place was maybe half full. Drinks where good once they showed up. Waiter did ask for some help with a larger table top and no one helped him. This is a Hilton Curio Collection Hotel... Hilton you have a lot of work to do. New management and a deep clean will help a lot.

The most amazing place I've ever been to in rapid city

First Bar I actually gone into having moved here 5 years ago from the country, I highly recommend this place for a nice quiet date night for a couple or a group of your choosing.

In a somewhat intimate setting even in cold weather this must be one one the best places in rapid city to have a drink. Service is quick and professional and the bartender is a trip! He will keep you entertained no matter what big you choose to seat at the bar. Drink menu is extensive and there are many other drinks and new variations that are not on the menu. Two outdoor rooftop areas with plenty of fireplaces make it an awesome time to sip a few drinks. I did not eat but food looked good. This is a member only and guests of the hotel and seems member can invite guests, so for the size of the place that is a perfect group of patrons. Decor is very unique and nice. And the best thing are their monthly promotions. Take a look at the discount of almost 50% on my tab. I has an amazing time! See the magic trick video from bartender.

Great food and views!

Food was good, and so were the two alcoholic milkshakes I had. My crush said nice things about me so I conclude this was a good choice. The view was also excellent.

My wife and I had drinks here on 28 October when we stayed at the Hotel Alex Johnson Rapid City.Nice bar with nice ambience and furniture. I can imagine the nice views on a nice weather day but being October it was cold and wet outside and the snow flurry was coming down so the views weren't the best.Staff were very good and service fast.

Great food and service with incredible views of Rapid City!

Stopped by the Vertex tonight while family was visiting. Had such a great experience! We brought our little one and wanted to get her some icecream. Travis, the manager, overheard us talking about this and offered to get our daughter some icecream on the house. We were really impressed with this small generosity! All the team members that served us had top notch customer service. We will be back.

Neat view. Bar tender knew what he was doing which is rare. Expensive, but I would visit again.

I love spending time up on the rooftop! Fabulous views. Wonderful drinks. Lovely fires in the evening. A perfect end to a perfect day.

What an amazing view of Rapid City and fun experience unlike any of the other bars in the area. Really do recommend getting up there if you get the chance. Jorge is awesome and makes amazing purple rain drinks!

Only rooftop bar in town, a must if you're staying in Rapid. You will need to pay to go up, but the views of the city and hills alone are worth it. Great menu had a couple vegetarian options and the speciality drinks are phenomenal. Hailee has been there for the three years I've been stopping in and she's the best! I recommend you order a Vesper....like James Bond would.

This is a great find in a small town. It is world class for this area! The atmosphere is amazing... It is super special if the temperature is in the 40s or 50s!

A wonderful find in downtown. We are visitors to Rapid City and wanted a local non chain Restaurant for dinner. We found it here in this great old hotel in the heart of the Downtown. We both had 2 appetizers instead of an entire. Bartender readily admitted he made me the wrong cocktail and remade it. Service buy Helen was fine. Atmosphere warm and cozy.

I am a Vertex member and they always take good care of me. The Ye Old Fashioned Manhattan is my go to drink. (((Although any drink you might order is made very well!!))) Awesome views of the city like no other. Love my spot at the top of the world.

Great views! Ross at the front desk was fantastic. Great bartenders and friendly people. Make this a stop and check out the newly renovated rooms.

View is spectacular, service has definitely improved over the last few years. Very nice wine list and cocktail menu, limited food menu. Valet parking is available for Vertex club members.

Great views and wonderful drinks

Incredible view of Rapid City. Gas fireplaces will take the chill out of the air for you. Drinks are very overpriced. This is a semi private bar so you might have to pay to gain access if you aren't a guest at the hotel Alex Johnson.

Pics don’t do it justice. Indoors, and outdoor views are worth the visit alone . Very quite atmosphere. Food was great ..shrimp cocktail, Buffalo tenderloin, asparagus side salad and gnocchi, were all delicious. Custom seasonal drinks. Beautiful outdoor fire pits. Great experience. Expensive and convenient.

Food was absolutely phenomenal, drinks are great, cigars were amazing, but most importantly, Hailey my waitress was beyond any phenomenal words!!!!

We were very disappointed with the service and unfriendly attitude from our server as well as the manager on duty. It took 20 minutes to even be approached by our server nearly 30 minutes to receive our drinks. We had to ask three separate times to receive our check and when I spoke with the manager I was dismissed as unimportant because “they were busy.” The Vertex is a small bar with plenty of staff, just not the right staff. As a local resident of Rapid City I would never suggest going to the Vortex as there are plenty of other establishments that even when they are busy treat their customers with kindness and respect.

Excellent experience on the rooftop of the AJH's Vertex sky Bar for a drink and enjoy some beautiful views. Friendly staff was quick to serve and the DJ playing some great tunes on his old 45s. Didn't care for the second hand "minimal smoke but give it a 5 star non the less

Great service with a wonderful atmosphere

Food was good, but the reason to go here is for the setting and view. Service was good and drinks were great. I enjoy their cocktail menu. They can support large parties, but if there is one large party(10-20) it will greatly limit other tables available. There is limited dining space indoors. When it's nice out, there is plenty of room. This is a great place to take out of town guests or business partners. You just have to figure out how to get up there. We generally know someone staying at Alex Johnson which allows access up to vertex.
